While a blue-green algae advisory from 2008 remains in place for Lake Utopia, it is only an advisory and therefore Canal Beach is OPEN for swimming.
While the beach is open for swimming, it is not recommended that swimmers swallow the water and swim with open sores/wounds.
The Town of St. George, in cooperation with the Department of Environment and the Lake Utopia Preservation Association (LUPA), continues to monitor health limits of Lake Utopia.
